Redix’s subsidiary company hotel Samzeo is located in a remote alpine location Omalo with no connection to the central electric grid. The area is completely isolated from the rest of the world with no road connection from Octomber to May due to high snow. The hotel is equipped with off-grid solar photovoltaic system which provides year-round electricity supply. Hot water consumption is fully covered by a solar thermal installation. Solar installations were specially chosen to be seamlessly integrated on the roof and blended with local historical buildings and a protected landscape. Usage of energy conserving equipment and materials further improves energy efficiency of the hotel. The only alternate fuel for the electricity and hot water production is diesel. Burning diesel is known to contribute to global climate change by releasing significant amounts of carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Solar installations on the hotel help to save up to 200 tons of CO2 annually. Hotel Samzeo is a perfect example of a truly sustainable and eco-friendly hotel, designed and build to respect local environment.
